Alexandria, Virginia

Design Achievement
The Mark Center Building, located in Alexandria, Virginia, serves as a prominent military office building for various agencies under the Washington Headquarters Services of the United States Department of Defense. The building, named after the "Mark Center" property development, stands as the tallest structure constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers and accommodates around 6,500 employees. A primary objective of the client was to establish an installation within the building that would offer users and visitors access to comprehensive information regarding the building's sustainable features and initiatives.

Scope Summary
DLR Group was commissioned to develop preliminary design concepts for a display that would effectively showcase the sustainability achievements and attributes of the LEED Gold-certified Mark Center in Washington, DC. The design of the display prominently features a collection of infographics and LEED plaques to illustrate the facility's sustainable features. In addition to serving as an informational display, the solution also serves as a placemaking element, providing users of the building with a versatile meeting space.
